The Vacancy
Looking for the right place to build confidence, broaden your experience and keep progressing towards qualification? We are looking for a motivated part-qualified patent attorney with experience in hi-tech subject matter to join our friendly and highly regarded IT & Engineering practice group. This is a great opportunity to develop through varied, hands-on UK and European patent work for domestic and international clients. You will get involved in drafting and prosecuting patent applications across a wide range of technologies, while building confidence in direct client work and learning how to turn complex technical detail into clear, practical and commercially aware advice. You will not be expected to have all the answers from day one. Working closely with supportive, partner-led teams, you will receive high-quality training and supervision while taking on increasing responsibility at the right pace. You will gain exposure to drafting, filing and prosecution, as well as opportunities to learn from oppositions, appeals before the EPO and advisory work. We want this to be a place where you can grow into the kind of attorney you want to become. Whether you are keen to strengthen your drafting skills, broaden your technical exposure, build confidence with clients or contribute to training and knowledge-sharing, you will have the opportunity to develop in a collaborative environment that recognises your strengths and supports your ambitions.
Who we are looking for
- Part-qualified UK and European Patent Attorney
- Background in physics, engineering, software or a related technical discipline, with some experience supporting hi-tech clients

- A developing ability to provide clear, practical and commercially aware advice to clients
- An interest in understanding clients’ businesses and the commercial context for their IP
- Confidence taking ownership of work, with appropriate support and supervision
- Curiosity, initiative and ambition to develop as a patent attorney within a supportive, high-quality professional environment
