We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Senior Research Associate to join our team of scientists and contribute towards the development of novel biotherapeutics focusing on functional immunology. This is a research-based role working to discover therapeutics for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Individuals must bring technical skills, enthusiasm, and provide a positive addition to company culture. The role involves supporting a diverse set of experiments associated with the development of novel antibodies and validation of their mechanism of action.

Our dream candidate will have a degree in immunology or a related field and experience in tissue culture and multi-colour flow cytometry. We are looking for someone who is scientifically curious and ready to make an impact in an exciting new therapeutic space. This position also provides an opportunity to work closely with highly diverse and collaborative groups both internally and externally to support the delivery of R&D programs at Gilead.

Example Responsibilities:
  • With guidance, plan, execute, and troubleshoot experiments that support R&D activities and project goals.
  • Perform a range of techniques to a high level of delivery (with a focus on immune cell isolation, tissue culture, and multi-colour flow cytometry).
  • Select, follow, and adapt experimental protocols and generate laboratory SOPs.
  • Gather, analyse, and present scientific data from a variety of sources.
  • Contribute to maintenance of laboratory equipment including flow cytometers.
  • Document research findings clearly in an electronic lab book.
  • Contribute to discussions and share research findings with colleagues.
Qualifications & Prior Experience:
  • Undergraduate degree (or masters) in Biology or Pharmacology related discipline.
  • 1-3 years of research experience in an industry setting or academic research institution is preferred.
  • Ability to analyse data and report results.
  • Experience in tissue culture and flow cytometry.
  • Excellent written, oral, and organizational skills.
Knowledge & Other Requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability to be a fast learner.
  • Self-motivated; with strong teamworking skills.
  • Good understanding of inflammatory disease pathogenesis is preferred.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change to move between projects easily and provide support and expertise where needed.
  • Practical and analytical abilities with high attention to detail as demonstrated through publications, past experiences, and/or academic achievements.
