Overview
In this role you will strengthen Gilead’s security posture by partnering with cross-functional teams to implement and sustain platform security capabilities. You will translate business needs into secure solutions, evaluate new technologies, and help shape the security roadmap. You’ll work across Windows, Linux, and macOS to mitigate risk and support enterprise-scale security tools. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, collaborative SRC organization with meaningful impact on patient-friendly outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Define security capability requirements with SRC stakeholders to address business needs and mitigate risk
- Install, configure, and evaluate new security technologies through proof-of-concept implementations
- Troubleshoot and resolve cross-OS (Windows, Linux, macOS) issues at endpoints and servers
- Develop architectures to support new security technologies
- Create documentation including requirements, test cases, and SOPs
- Collaborate with IT on rollout and implementation of platform security tools
- Contribute to the platform security roadmap and identify gaps to address
- Formalize and update security policies, procedures, and technical standards
- Lead sustainment projects to maintain and enhance existing capabilities
- Act as system owner for identified platform security tools
Key requirements
- High School Degree with 11 years of experience OR Associate’s with 9 years OR Bachelor’s with 7 years OR Master’s with 5 years
- Practical IT security and infrastructure protection experience
- Enterprise IT security work with cross-functional teams
- Strong understanding of audit and monitoring, risk response and recovery, cryptography, data communications, operations security, network security, security architecture and cloud security
- Hands-on security technologies in the platform security space (e.g., EDR, DLP, DSPM, SOAR)
- Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and SIEM content creation
- Excellent verbal and written communication adaptable to audience
- Ability to work in fast-paced, visible, changing environments
- Relationship-building with partners, peers, and senior management
- ITIL familiarity (incident, problem, change, etc.)
- Pharma industry experience preferred
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and diplomacy skills
- Ability to document solutions with strong organization and grammar
- CISSP/GIAC or similar is preferred
