ur client, a major energy utility, is seeking a Senior Specialist Site Resident Civil Engineer / Site Manager to join its Generation Engineering Delivery team.
The successful candidate will initially be based on a renewable onshore wind farm construction site in northern Scotland for approximately 18 months, before returning to Ireland to work on further large-scale generation construction sites, including thermal OCGT, solar and demolition/decommissioning projects.
This is a full-time, on-site role suited to a civil engineer with strong contract administration and site management experience on major energy infrastructure projects.
A relocation allowance is provided.
Responsibilities
- Manage, monitor and supervise all on‑site activities of Contractors on generation project construction and demolition contracts, from enabling works through main construction and commissioning.
- Administer contracts for main Contractors on site, including discharging delegated responsibilities of the Engineer and corresponding with the Contractor on all site issues.
- Ensure strong compliance with health, safety, environmental and planning regulations, with particular emphasis on the specific challenges of electricity generating power plant construction.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the project team on site.
- Monitor project progress and prepare regular reports for the project team and senior management.
- Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, safety specialists, environmental specialists and other stakeholders to ensure seamless contract execution.
- Undertake Quality Assurance documentation and Site Inspection Test Plan reviews, audits and checks of the civil works throughout the construction period.
- Resolve on‑site issues or conflicts promptly, and maintain detailed and accurate records of site activities including daily logs, inspections and incident reports.
- Support the assessment and resolution of Contractor's claims and commercial risks, and support Third Party Stakeholder Management including landowner interactions.
Requirements
- Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent third level qualification.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in civil engineering, including construction site management experience for energy infrastructure projects.
- Strong working knowledge of FIDIC Contracts and the administration of contracts in this form.
- Demonstrated experience delivering civil/structural engineering construction phase projects on time and to the highest professional standards.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work on own initiative and collaborate within a team.
- Full driving licence with access to a car.
