Medical Lead Consultant Psychiatrist – Acute & Locked Rehabilitation Services (South-West Region)
Are you an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist seeking a senior leadership role that is both challenging and highly rewarding? This could be the perfect opportunity for you.
A leading independent mental health provider is looking for a Medical Lead Consultant Psychiatrist to oversee acute and locked rehabilitation services across the South-West region.
About the Role:
As Medical Lead, you will play a key role in clinical governance, service delivery, and medical management across these sites. You will also maintain a clinical caseload at the Exeter service while providing leadership and support to dedicated psychiatrists and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide senior clinical advisory support and contribute to the clinical strategy.
- Lead quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives.
- Oversee medical management, supervision, and recruitment of psychiatrists.
- Represent the region within national clinical governance structures.
- Act as Responsible Clinician for an inpatient caseload.
- Collaborate in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency partnerships.
- Implement the Mental Health Act and liaise with the Ministry of Justice (if applicable).
- Lead clinical governance meetings and service development alongside Hospital Directors.
- Participate in a two-tier on-call system as duty Responsible Clinician.
What We’re Looking For:
- Registration on the Specialist Register for General Adult/Forensic/Rehabilitation Psychiatry with a valid licence to practice.
- Previous medical leadership experience (desirable).
- Right to work in the UK.
