Due to our ambitious growth plans, we are now looking to hire Driver Assistants for our Central Production Unit at Elland Road, Leicester LE3 1TU. They will assist the delivery driver in ensuring goods are transported safely, efficiently, and delivered to customers in a professional manner. This role involves supporting loading/unloading, route navigation, and providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Assist with lifting, carrying, and securing goods onto the vehicle and at delivery points.
- Responsible for the safe handling and security of restaurant keys during deliveries and returns.
- Responsible for collecting goods, containers, or returns from customer sites or suppliers as scheduled.
- Help plan routes, navigate using maps or GPS, and advise on traffic conditions.
- Communicate politely with customers, confirm delivery details, and obtain signatures.
- Remove packaging, place items as requested, and handle delivery paperwork.
- Keep the vehicle clean and tidy; report any defects or delays promptly.
- Ensure loads are secure and follow health and safety guidelines during handling.
- Maintain accurate delivery records and assist with administrative tasks.
Skills & Requirements
- Physical fitness for lifting and long hours.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic knowledge of traffic laws and safe handling practices.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends.
- Reliability and attention to detail.
- Multi-drop drivers with fixed routes, with a minimum of 45 hours per week.
- Required to work night shifts.
