Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver allocated Break Fix schedules, working with stakeholders to finish on time, safely, and to standard.
- Conduct Break Fix for traditional underground/buried network, PIA overhead and underground issues.
- Perform service repair on PIA PON network communities.
- Provide initial first response to Gigaclear overhead poles to assess and provide contractor feedback.
- Carry out fibre splicing and testing.
- Ensure adherence to Gigaclear standards and compliance with NRSWA, SROH, and relevant build, break fix & fibre specifications.
- Maintain own and team’s assurance across quality and Health & Safety standards.
The Field Engineer reports to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for a variety of tasks involved in the Break Fix of the Gigaclear FTTH / FTTP network. Works will include traditional (civils / buried) and PIA underground and overhead. The Field Engineer will be responsible for ensuring all works meet Gigaclear standards as well as compliance with NRSWA, SROH and the relevant build, break fix & fibre specifications.
A starting salary of £28,000 to £32,000, dependent upon experience and current qualifications / accreditations. All offers of employment will be subject to interview. Further to this, we must take steps to ensure that our company vehicle drivers are safe; as such you will not only be required to undergo licence checks and regular monitoring of your driving style, but you will also be required to undergo a drug & alcohol test as part of your onboarding. Your offer of employment will be withdrawn if you fail this drug & alcohol test. Employees will then be required to cooperate with a programme of random drug & alcohol testing throughout their employment.
Knowledge & Experience:
- A background in Civils, Fibre and/or Telecoms, ideally fibre optic networks (FTTH / FTTP).
- Previous experience of installations, fault fix, repair and/or maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and fault fix network issues.
- Previous knowledge and experience in the field civils specifications desirable – e.g., NRSWA.
- Able to understand, interpret and adhere to risk & method assessments.
Qualifications & Accreditations:
- Full driving licence (manual), held for 12 months+.
- DBS check (or ability to pass).
- Ideally already hold a NRSWA Operative accreditation.
