Already working in Telecoms but looking to work for the client on a full fibre network, a role that will support you with a training pathway that will include external sector accredited courses on underground and overhead PIA, NRSWA, etc, as well as internal training on the Gigaclear network, fibre splicing and testing. A starting salary of £28,000 to £32,000 dependent upon experience and current qualifications / accreditations. This role would cover Cambridge, down M11 corridor to Bishops Stortford. Reporting to the Operations Manager the Field Engineer will then be responsible for a variety of tasks involved in the Break Fix of the Gigaclear FTTH / FTTP network. Works will include traditional (civils / buried) and PIA underground and overhead.

The Field Engineer will be responsible for ensuring all works meet Gigaclear standards as well as compliance with NRSWA, SROH and the relevant build, break fix & fibre specifications.

Key Accountability & Responsibilities
  • Delivery of the allocated Break Fix schedules, working with stakeholders to deliver on time, safely and to standard.
  • Break Fix could include – traditional underground / buried network as well as PIA overhead and underground issues and fix.
  • Service repair on PIA PON network communities.
  • Initial first response to Gigaclear’s overhead poles to assess and feedback for contractor instruction.
  • Fibre splicing and testing.
  • Responsibility for their own and teams’ assurance across quality and Health & Safety standards.
Knowledge & Experience
  • A background in Civils, Fibre and / or Telecoms, ideally fibre optic networks (FTTH / FTTP).
  • Previous experience of installations, fault fix, repair and / or maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and fault fix network issues.
  • Previous knowledge and experience of in the field Civils specifications desirable – e.g. NRSWA.
  • Able to understand, interpret and adhere to risk & method assessments.
Qualifications & Accreditations
  • Full driving licence (manual), held for 12 months+.
  • DBS check (or ability to pass).
  • Ideally already hold a NRSWA Operative accreditation.

Note: All offers of employment will be subject to interview.
