The Network Engineer L1 provides first-line support for network infrastructure, ensuring connectivity, performance, and security across organizational systems. They assist in monitoring, troubleshooting, and escalating issues to higher-level engineers when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Network monitoring: Monitor routers, switches, firewalls, and WAN/LAN links using tools like SolarWinds, Nagios, or PRTG.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve basic connectivity issues (IP conflicts, DNS/DHCP problems, Wi-Fi issues).
- Incident management: Log, track, and close tickets in ITSM tools, escalating unresolved issues to L2/L3 teams.
- Configuration support: Assist with basic configuration of switches, routers, and firewalls under supervision.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of incidents, resolutions, and network diagrams.
- User support: Provide end-user assistance for VPN, remote access, and basic network queries.
- Security awareness: Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and report suspicious activity.
Required Skills
