About Gifftid: Gifftid is building a next-generation platform that transforms how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are understood, supported, and connected to growth opportunities. Today, millions of SMEs operate successfully in the real economy serving customers, delivering contracts, and generating revenue yet remain underserved due to limited visibility in traditional data systems. Gifftid addresses this gap by bringing together multiple sources of business data and transforming them into structured, decision-ready intelligence that supports better outcomes across finance, procurement, and growth.
About the Role: We are looking for a Senior Backend Data Engineer to design and build the data infrastructure that powers our platform. You will work on integrating diverse data sources, building scalable pipelines, and creating the foundation for analytics and decision-making systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working on complex, real-world data problems and building systems that translate raw data into meaningful outputs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines for ingesting data from APIs, platforms, and external sources;
- Build and maintain backend systems that support data processing and analytics;
- Develop and optimise data models and storage architectures;
- Ensure data quality, reliability, and consistency;
- Work closely with product and data teams to support evolving requirements;
- Contribute to overall system architecture and infrastructure decisions.
Requirements:
- 5+ years experience in backend or data engineering;
- Strong programming skills (Python preferred);
- Experience with APIs and data ingestion pipelines;
- Advanced SQL and data modelling skills;
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure);
- Familiarity with pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow or Prefect.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with financial, operational, or transactional data;
- Exposure to real-time or event-driven systems;
- Experience with data warehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong systems thinker with attention to detail;
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and evolving products;
- Interest in building infrastructure that supports real-world decision-making.
Why Join Gifftid:
You will be part of building a platform from the ground up, working on challenges at the intersection of data, systems, and real-world business impact.
