An opportunity to become the financial right hand to the owners of a fast-growth business. Not every finance role offers a genuine seat at the table. Some are focused purely on reporting, while others are heavily transactional. This opportunity sits firmly in the middle.
We're partnering with a fast-growing, entrepreneurial business that is entering an exciting phase of development and is now seeking an experienced finance professional to join on an initial six-month contract. Reporting directly to the owners, this is a broad and highly visible role that combines hands-on financial management with genuine commercial influence and financial stewardship. For the right individual, this presents an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, helping shape decision-making, improve visibility of performance and support the continued growth of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the finance function whilst acting as a trusted advisor to the leadership team, providing clear financial insight and helping guide strategic decision-making.
- Production and presentation of monthly management accounts.
- Budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management.
- Financial analysis and performance reporting.
- Providing commercial insight and financial support to the owners.
- Overseeing payroll processes across both permanent and temporary sides of the business.
- Managing balance sheet reconciliations and month-end activities.
- Ensuring robust financial controls and governance.
- Supporting external accountants, auditors and advisers where required.
- Driving process improvements and identifying operational efficiencies.
- Supporting wider business initiatives and growth plans.
This is very much a role for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves whilst maintaining a strategic and commercial perspective. It is likely to appeal to a current Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Head of Finance who enjoys operating in an SME environment where no two days are the same.
About You:
We're keen to speak with commercially minded finance professionals who enjoy operating within dynamic SME environments. You will likely be:
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified or qualified by experience.
- Operating as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Head of Finance or similar.
- Comfortable working both strategically and hands-on.
- Experienced in producing management accounts, budgeting and forecasting.
- Confident partnering with senior stakeholders and business owners.
- Solutions-focused with a proactive approach.
- Comfortable in overseeing a payroll facility.
- Able to work independently and take ownership.
- Experience within professional services, recruitment or staffing or another service-led environment would be advantageous, although by no means essential.
If you're looking for a contract opportunity where you can genuinely add value and work closely with business owners, we'd be delighted to speak with you.
