Portfolio Execution Group (PEG) comprises multiple teams with functional roles such as trade execution, funding & liquidity management, securities financing and applied quantitative research. It is divided into three sub‐teams: the Global Trading Unit (GTU), Balance Sheet Management Group (BMG) and Applied Research Unit (ARU).
The GTU implements GIC's investment decisions across public markets, operating desks in London, New York and Singapore. It executes trades in equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities, delivering best execution and market intelligence to portfolio managers.
What impact can you make in this role?
You will contribute to top‐tier trade execution, efficient portfolio liquidity management and asset utilisation improvement for GIC.
What will you do as a trader?
- Partner closely with GIC's portfolio managers worldwide to execute trades during the London time zone across FX, equities, rates, commodities and futures.
- Harvest and deliver differentiated market intelligence on macro themes to portfolio managers and senior management.
- Collaborate with the Applied Research Unit (ARU) and Technology Group (TG) to gain insights from GTU's trading data, continuously sharpening execution and improving the trading technology suite, including automated trading, pre‐ and post‐trade checks and market surveillance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with counterparties and liquidity providers through strong interpersonal and communication skills.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Relevant years of trading experience – exposure to electronic trading is advantageous.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills with strong negotiation ability.
- Strong problem‐solving orientation and meticulous attention to detail.
- Willingness to take intra‐day and inter‐day market timing risks to deliver strong execution outcomes.
- Programming proficiency in Python and a passion for data insights.
