We are seeking skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitters to join our growing team, working in the rail sector. You’ll play a key role in assembling, installing, and maintaining critical systems on rail vehicles, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance.
Responsibilities include:
- Carrying out the assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and components on rail vehicles or manufacturing equipment, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
- Assembling and fitting mechanical components such as bogies, couplers, brake systems, and suspension units on rail vehicles.
- Installing and aligning shafts, bearings, gearboxes, and other mechanical assemblies.
- Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Performing routine maintenance and inspections on mechanical systems.
- Working closely with engineers, electricians, and other fitters to meet production targets.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Fitting.
- Proven experience in a mechanical fitting role, ideally within rail, automotive, or heavy manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Experience working to rail industry standards (e.g., Forklift or crane operation certification).
