As a key member of Pioneer Safety Group, Pyropress manufactures explosion protection solutions for energy and process industries, producing flameproof and intrinsically safe industrial switches, transmitters, warning sounders and beacons, emergency call-points, and valves. We have a requirement for a Design Engineer, to work on a 6 month contract to produce ATEX & IECEx components and assemblies, primarily mechanical, with some electro-mechanical content, using your experience as a Design Engineer in machined parts, casting design, mechanical assemblies, shafts, bearings and seals arrangements.
The Design Engineer is responsible for:
- Creating 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Design Suite
- Continual improvement
- Problem solving - investigation and support in resolution of production and assembly problems
- Producing and maintaining documentation - wiring diagrams, CAD models and technical files
- Certification & business accreditations
- Ensuring adherence to legislation
- Working closely with our Manufacturing Engineer as well as 3rd parties such as suppliers and technology experts to achieve business goals
- Representing the business from a technical perspective, undertaking travel to customers, suppliers, trade events and our other businesses
Essential qualifications, skills, knowledge & experience:
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of manufacturing techniques of at least turned and machined parts in stainless steel, castings and thermoset polymers and the associated design principles
- Working knowledge of applying GD&T
- Ability to interpret standards and regulations to meet legal requirements
- Knowledge of Engineering quality control standards and processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams and departments
- Strong IT skills including CAD (Autodesk Inventor 3D & 2D), Autodesk Vault, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS and Outlook
- Demonstrable problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills
- Ability to plan and organise effectively
Desirable qualifications, experience and knowledge:
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent
- Familiarity with ISO standards (ISO9001, ISO14001, etc.)
- Proficient with MRP or manufacturing software systems
- ATEX and IECEx certification schemes
- Experience in European Directives and routes to compliance
