We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Team Leader to head up a Mechanical Applications critical diesel engine packages and forklift truck conversions, for hazardous and regulated environments. This role combines people leadership with strong hands-on mechanical engineering expertise, strong CAD skills, and ideally knowledge of ATEX and IECEx compliant product design.
The Mechanical Design Team Leader will lead and coordinate the full mechanical design and development, from concept through to manufacture and in-service support, using your experience of industrial equipment or engine-based systems. The role involves translating customer and project requirements into compliant mechanical solutions, providing mechanical engineering input into bids and feasibility assessments, identifying technical risks, assisting with problem-solving in manufacture, supporting technical discussions with customers, and working with suppliers, test bodies, and certification partners.
Strong analytical capability, structured problem solving, and clear technical communication are essential. To be successful in this role, we envisage you will have a related Degree, significant experience in mechanical design for industrial equipment or engine-based systems, strong CAD ability, experience in leading a technical team, and ideally formal ATEX training.
