The predicted salary is between 1300 - 1800 £ per month.
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Main duties of the job:
- Receiving patients consulting with members of the practice team.
- Handling completed repeat prescriptions to patients and checking names and addresses.
- Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary.
- Process appointment requests for today and future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
- Deal with visit requests.
- Process patient online access.
- Care navigation of patient requests.
- Registrations of new patients, computer data entry and medical records.
- Process patients’ change of address, computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area).
- Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines.
- Have working knowledge of telephone usage during and after hours.
- Ensure building security; any other tasks allocated by managers; make tea/coffee for staff.
Working hours: 20 hours per week - Monday 8.00am – 1.00pm; Tuesday 1.30pm – 6.30pm; Thursday 8.00am – 1.00pm; Friday 1.30pm – 6.30pm.

HEALTH & SAFETY: The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the practice Health & Safety Policy, to include: using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines; identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks.
Person Specification:
- Must be fully flexible and able to work extra to help cover holidays and absence as and when needed.
- Good Customer Service Skills.
- Good IT Skills.
- Good telephone skills.
- Good at working under pressure.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Experience of working in a GP practice preferable but not essential as full training will be given.
Qualifications:
- Grade A-C in English and Maths.
- This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
