Based in the London office, the Staff Recruiter will oversee the entire recruitment process for Global Services hires based in our Europe, Middle East and Asia offices. This role requires deep regional understanding of these markets, including legal compliance and cultural nuances, in order to attract and onboard top-tier professional staff in a high-performing global law firm environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of full-cycle recruitment and effectively manage all areas of the recruitment process, from sourcing to onboarding. This position is responsible for creating a positive and personalised experience for candidates, agency contacts and hiring managers while driving efficiencies and ensuring compliance. This role reports to the Associate Director, Human Resources with a dotted line to the Director of Administration & International Operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage the entire recruitment process for all Global Services positions in our Europe, Middle East and Asia offices, from requisition through onboarding and integration.
- Support recruitment efforts for US Global Services roles as needed.
- Partner with Global Staff Recruiting and local Directors of Administration to drive consistencies across jurisdictions and effectively manage the different requirements and specificities of each jurisdiction.
- Develop and implement strategic recruitment plans to attract top talent, aligning with the firm's long-term goals and objectives.
- Assist with driving the global rollout of a new Applicant Tracking System.
- Partner with hiring managers and department leadership to fully understand role requirements and provide guidance on recruiting best practices to ensure compliance, consistency and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain information regarding market data and talent availability and leverage this information to provide guidance to hiring managers and department leadership.
- Actively source candidates through job boards and other recruitment platforms to ensure a strong candidate pipeline.
- Leverage alternative resources and tools to ensure a strategic sourcing model.
- Partner and build strong relationships with agency search firms to effectively communicate Gibson Dunn’s culture and strengthen and grow candidate pipeline when additional support is required.
- Review and negotiate contractual terms to the best interest of the Firm.
- Review and refer qualified candidates to hiring managers.
- Conduct initial phone screenings to evaluate candidates’ expertise.
- Track and maintain all recruiting activities and files.
- Extend verbal and written offers of employment and manage offer negotiations.
- Maintain the firm’s applicant tracking system, and ensure configuration is up to date.
- Complete pre-employment checks and ensure timely entry into the firm’s onboarding platform for all new hires.
- Partner with key stakeholders, including local Directors of Administration, to create meaningful onboarding and integration plan for new hires.
- Continuously assess recruitment processes, tools and resources to further enhance the candidate experience.
- Proactively identify ways to improve the overall candidate and hiring manager experience, while ensuring efficiency and accountability throughout the entire process.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience recruiting across diverse jurisdictions, ideally within Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
- Ability to manage multiple roles simultaneously and reprioritise responsibilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources practices and principles with a full understanding of recruiting practices.
- Capable of maintaining confidence of personal and highly sensitive information.
- Critical thinking and sound judgment with ability to analyse and resolve problems.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the firm, along with managing productive working relationships.
Experience:
- University degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent relevant work experience required.
- 5+ years of experience in recruiting or talent acquisition.
- Proven experience as a full-cycle recruiter.
- Experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and other HR systems.
- Demonstrated experience seeking and placing talent globally preferred.
