Based in London, the Application Engineer will be responsible for the full lifecycle of key enterprise applications—ensuring reliability, performance, security, and continuous improvement. This role involves administration of client/server platforms, architecture design, integration development, automation, and collaboration with business and technical stakeholders across the firm.

- iManage Document Management & Integrated Solutions: iManage Work 10, Preview Servers, RAVN, iManage Mobility, Threat Manager, Co-Authoring, Closing Folders, SPM, Litera CAM, GDSI
- Intapp Wallbuilder: Intapp Integrate, Boomi
- Records Management: Micro Focus Content Manager, IDOL OEM, iCompli, Future In Tech (FiT)
- Core Platforms: Windows Server 2016-2022, Apache, Linux, Windows OS, MacOS, AVD
This role reports to the Senior Manager of Desktop and Application Services.
Responsibilities include:
- Application Management
- Administer, configure, and optimize assigned applications to ensure stability, performance, and user adoption.
- Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues and deliver solutions for complex technical challenges.
- Lead application lifecycle activities, including upgrades, patching and ongoing improvements initiatives.
- Design and Implementation
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, secure technical solutions.
- Architect systems, integrations, and workflows that align with firm standards and best practices.
- Lead or support application deployments, automation initiatives, and new technology implementations.
- Perform comprehensive testing and quality assurance to ensure successful rollouts.
- Risk and Security
- Ensure all applications meet security standards, data protection requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Conduct risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and coordinate remediation activities.
- Maintain documentation related to compliance, incident response, and security controls.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison to software vendors, tracking issues and recommending enhancements.
- Evaluate new software products and technologies in collaboration with vendor partners.
- Review vendor performance, SLAs, and contract terms to support strategic decision-making.
- Oversee project timelines, deliverables, and dependencies across internal teams and external partners.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation, including system configurations, SOPs, workflows, and user guides.
- Develop and deliver training for end users, technical teams, and business partners.
- Ensure documentation remains current following changes, upgrades, and new feature releases.
Application Specific Responsibilities
- Administer daily operational tasks, including security access management and monitoring data synchronization, workspace creation, and data import/export through Litera CAM.
- Work within Intapp Walls, iManage SQL database schemas and security models to run queries, update records, and troubleshoot stored procedures.
- Build and maintain integrations, data flows, business rules, and security policies using Intapp Integrate and/or Boomi.
- Implement and support integrations across Document Management Systems (DMS) and Content Management Systems (CMS).
- Identify automation opportunities and streamline processes using REST APIs and related tooling.
- Ensure compliance of Walls rules with firm policies, Information Governance, and Office of General Counsel requirements.
- Maintain consistent security controls across iManage On-Prem, iManage Cloud, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Records systems.
- Collaborate with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure ethical wall implementations satisfy regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
Qualifications:
- Exceptional full-stack troubleshooting skills, leveraging deep system and application log analysis to diagnose and resolve root-cause issues.
- Strong PowerShell skills and experience with scripting languages for automation, upgrades, and configuration management.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft SQL, T-SQL, Windows and Linux OS, and core networking concepts.
- Familiarity with legal applications, security policies, and the packaging and deployment of applications.
- Advanced experience developing data flows with Integration Builder.
- Intermediate-level development experience with REST APIs.
- Expert knowledge of DMS, Records Management Systems, Intapp Wallbuilder, and security models.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and Azure).
- Boomi development is a plus.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years supporting and administering enterprise applications within professional services, legal, or regulated environments.
- Experience managing client/server applications and business-critical systems in a global environment.
- Familiarity with ITIL best practices (incident, change, problem management).
- Experience with Lean or Agile methodologies.
- Certifications related to Microsoft technologies, iManage, or Litera products.
- Experience supporting and administering Office 365 applications.
