The Role
We are looking for an experienced CNC Turner Setter / Operator to join our precision machining team on an early shift. The role will involve setting and operating modern CNC turning centres producing complex precision components to tight tolerances in a high-specification engineering environment. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong CNC turning background who is confident setting tools, offsets, proving out jobs and maintaining machining quality independently.
Responsibilities
- Setting and operating CNC turning centres
- Working on Doosan Puma / Lynx and Fanuc turning machines
- Setting tool offsets and wear offsets
- Producing precision components to tight tolerances
- Reading and working from engineering drawings
- Proving out jobs and making program edits where required
- Monitoring tooling and machining quality
- Conducting self-inspection using measuring equipment
- Troubleshooting machining issues and supporting continuous improvement
- Maintaining safe and organised working practices
Candidate Requirements
- Experience as a CNC Turner Setter / Operator
- Strong CNC lathe / turning centre background
- Experience with Fanuc controls (or similar)
- Ability to set tools and offsets independently
- Experience machining precision components
- Able to work from engineering drawings and inspection equipment
- Good understanding of tooling, speeds and feeds
Highly Desirable
- Experience with Doosan Puma / Lynx machines / Nakumara
- Y-axis / live tooling
- Twin spindle lathes
- Aerospace / motorsport / precision engineering environments
- Low-volume high-precision machining
