Gibbs Consulting are looking for several Infrastructure Solution Architects to support a backup and recovery modernisation project for the data centres. The Backup & recovery team has been charged with modernising the legacy backup systems across the estate with a new enterprise backup system and also give protection from Ransomware.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creating positive relationships with Enterprise Architecture, ensuring design decisions are aligned with overarching enterprise architectural standards and strategies.
- Collaborating and leading with our platform teams to support the development and integration of roadmaps, defining migration methodologies to facilitate the movement of applications and infrastructure to the new datacentre.
- Gaining a deep understanding of the environments and the systems integration challenges facing major transformation and migration initiatives.
- Operating at an architectural level but also knowing how to design and deploy infrastructure change.
- Working with technical delivery managers to support planning, costing, and brokering the interaction with SMEs.
- Translating the complex and ambiguous requirements into clear and concise designs.
Essential:
- Engineer/Architect with a solid technical background in Infrastructure.
- Strong organisational, analytical and system thinking skills.
- Deep understanding of modern backup and recovery processes, practices and tooling, from both a platform, enterprise and organisational viewpoint.
- Familiarity with the Financial Conduct Authority operational resilience requirements.
- Understanding and experience of architecture analysis techniques and processes.
- Understanding and experience in systems and software engineering design across the whole lifecycle.
- Understanding the Principles of Secure by Design.
- Experience of Agile Development Principles and Methods.
- Familiarity with DevOps and DevSecOps practices, processes, and toolsets.
- Familiarity with the principles of IT Service Management.
- Excellent collaboration, interpersonal and communications skills.
- Analysis and current state assessments.
- Distributed / X86 technologies including Windows, RHEL & Containers - both virtualised and Physical.
- Midrange technologies including IBM Power Series (System I & System P), HP-UX & Sun Solaris.
- Traditional On Prem hosting and Cloud hosting (On-Premise and Off-Premise).
- Monitoring and Alerting systems.
- Deployment systems (OS, Application & Patching).
- Capacity planning and forecasting of systems for initial footprint and future growth.
- Backup and Recovery systems including Ransomware Vaulting.
- Storage and Archive systems.
- Disaster recovery and resilience patterns.
- High availability patterns.
- Data replication technologies.
- Software Defined Networks for Data Centres.
- Infrastructure blueprint / pattern definition.
- Mainframe technologies including IBM System Z, Unisys Dorado & Unisys Libra.
