Role Summary: Our aim is to be a global leader in the provision of high quality medical and rescue services. The head of medical operations will be responsible for the development and management of the medical operations service across the globe. Jointly accountable to the Director and Medical Director, they will have devolved responsibility for the strategic leadership, operational management, quality improvement and quality assurance of the service. Please note this position is available in the UK and Germany.
What you’ll be doing
- Leadership: Provide both strategic and operational leadership to the medical operations team, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and driving performance excellence.
- Recruitment: Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and mentorship of team members, fostering a culture of growth and high performance.
- Team development: Ensure the implementation of annual appraisals and the development of personalised growth plans for all team members to support continuous professional development.
- Feedback: Deliver regular, constructive feedback and conduct performance evaluations to guide team members towards achieving both individual and department-wide objectives.
- Budget: Manage the department budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and alignment with financial targets.
- Health & Safety: Develop and implement a health and safety strategy across the department.
Quality Improvement & Assurance
- Quality Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement, develop, implement and review solutions to ensure a continuous cycle of quality improvement is embedded within the department.
- Regulatory Compliance Monitoring: Remain current with global regulatory requirements and guidelines including CQC, MHRA, FPHC, UK/EURC, ISO, GWO, HSE and other relevant agencies. Ensure company services, products and processes meet the necessary standards.
- Audit & Inspection Management: Conduct internal audits and assist in external audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Prepare for regulatory inspections and act as the primary liaison during these visits.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identify potential compliance risks and implement corrective actions to mitigate these risks. Ensure clinical incidents and clinical risks are investigated thoroughly with lessons learnt or mitigations implemented effectively.
- Training & Guidance: Provide ongoing training and guidance to internal teams on regulatory requirements, compliance processes, and industry standards to ensure awareness and adherence across the organisation.
- Quality Assurance: Provide assurance to the relevant internal and external committee(s) that services are safe and effective.
Business Development & Innovation
- Sales Strategy Development: Working with the Senior account manager develop and implement effective sales strategies to drive revenue growth in the market. Identify and target new business opportunities and markets.
- Market Research & Analysis: Conduct market research to identify industry trends, customer needs, and competitive products & services. Use insights to refine sales strategies, product offerings, and marketing initiatives.
- Customer Acquisition & Relationship Building: Establish, build, and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders. Actively pursue new customers while fostering strong relationships with existing clients.
- Sales Presentations & Negotiations: Deliver compelling sales presentations to potential clients and conduct negotiations to close deals. Tailor solutions to meet customer needs while positioning the company’s medical products as the optimal choice.
- Product Knowledge & Training: Stay current on product offerings, medical technology advancements, and industry regulations.
Service Delivery
- Safe & Effective: Ensure all clinical services are delivered safely, effectively, and in alignment with high standards of client satisfaction.
- Feedback: Monitor client feedback and implement timely remedial action plans to drive continuous improvement.
- Clinical Governance: Oversee the delivery of services, ensuring they are professional, flexible, and compliant with contractual obligations. Manage the electronic patient record digital system.
- Training: Ensure training programmes are delivered in accordance with relevant regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Telemedicine: Manage the telemedicine contract(s), ensuring service quality, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Medical Products: Ensure medical products have a robust governance system in place.
Support: Support the delivery of all services as required. Additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
