Client Services and Payroll Administrator

Β£27,000 – Β£30,000 DOE | Hybrid, Cheltenham | Full-time | Payroll training and paid studies

When a contractor's pay lands on time and correctly, someone made that happen. At Giant, that someone could be you.

We're looking for a Client Services and Payroll Administrator to look after payroll for your own portfolio of recruitment agency clients. You'll be the person they trust to get it right. This role suits someone who enjoys the detail of payroll and also likes talking to people. You'll keep payroll accurate and on time, and you'll be the friendly expert clients turn to when they need help.

The package

  • Hours: Full-time, 37 hours, Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm
  • Holiday: 22 days + UK public holidays (increases by 1 day, each completed year of service)
  • Reporting to: Client Services Manager
  • Training: full payroll, compliance and systems training, plus support towards a payroll qualification such as CIPP

What you'll be doing

  • Owning payroll support for your own portfolio of clients, and training them on candidate, assignment and payroll set-up in our Precision portal
  • Building strong client relationships by phone and on Teams, and being the go-to person for their payroll questions
  • Resolving client queries on payroll, assignments, expenses, invoices and timesheets within SLA, by phone, email, LiveChat and our ticket system
  • Processing candidate advances and resolving returned payments
  • Maintaining payroll timetables and accounting periods, and checking timesheets against system entries
  • Working with the team on P32, CIS, Attachment of Earnings and pension submissions, and liaising with HMRC and The Pensions Regulator when needed
  • Auditing how clients use their portal, spotting quirks and suggesting improvements
  • Finding smarter ways of working, including with technology and AI tools

What we're looking for

  • Experience in payroll, payroll bureau, client services or a similar admin role. Agency or umbrella payroll experience is a bonus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and confidence speaking with clients on the phone and in online meetings
  • Strong numerical accuracy, good Excel skills and great attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritise, hit payroll deadlines and stay calm under pressure
  • Confidence with Microsoft Office, payroll or finance systems, ticketing tools and live chat
  • A proactive, team-focused approach, with good judgement on when to escalat a risk or compliance issue
  • Working towards a payroll qualification, or keen to start one with our support

Where it leads

You'll have clear routes into senior payroll support, payroll compliance or client services, as well as operational roles across the wider Giant group. You'll get full training on Precision, HMRC portals, pension administration, CIS, P32 and P6 controls, and payroll authorisations, so you'll grow your technical expertise from day one.
