The Junior Database Administrator will assist DevOps with the management and administration of Giacom’s database environments, including Microsoft SQL and MySQL. You will help with the monitoring of the environments as well as assisting in the remediation of legacy SQL databases to remain in a supported version. You will help with troubleshooting and resolving database related issues and aid in keeping documentation up to date.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assist in providing technical support for issues and tickets.
- Installation and configuration of databases.
- Proactively make recommendations and resolve technical system issues to improve SQL stability and performance.
- Build and maintain support documentation.
- Provide support for Database and DevOps related tickets raised with support desks.
- Work closely with the Support Teams to ensure efficient, collaborative working in both project work and business as usual activities.
Skills, Qualifications, And Experience
- Some experience with SQL Server and/or MySQL database management.
- Exposure to Linux and shell scripting.
- Experience writing and optimising SQL statements.
- Knowledge of de facto standards and best practices in MySQL and SQL Server.
- Passion for delivering quality and driving excellence.
- Display an eagerness for change and continuous improvement.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team & collaboratively.
