The predicted salary is between 12 - 15 £ per hour.

Recruiting for multiple sites across North Yorkshire - OWN TRANSPORT IS RECOMMENDED. Rota based - Includes weekends. All sites are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday - you will be required to work these days. Your shifts will be discussed on induction.

Role Summary

We require temporary staff to support the roll out of a new vehicle registration system at multiple Household Waste Recycling Centres. The role involves standing at the site entrance with a handheld device (PDA) to check vehicle registration plates, confirm eligibility, and provide clear guidance to residents. Temp HWRC staff support - Minimum of 6 weeks!

Key Duties

  • Greet residents as they arrive at the HWRC.
  • Use a handheld PDA to check vehicle registration plates.
  • Confirm whether vehicles are registered and eligible to enter.
  • Follow clear scripts depending on the situation.
  • Support residents during the transition to the new system.
  • Help keep traffic moving safely and smoothly.

Candidate Requirements

  • Good customer service skills and polite, professional manners.
  • Confident speaking to members of the public.
  • IT literate and comfortable using handheld devices.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.
  • Able to work outdoors and stand for long periods.

Additional Information

Full briefing and guidance will be provided. PPE will be supplied where required. Role is customer-facing and based at the HWRC entrance gate.

Other Requirements

Please note when it is quiet, you will also be required to carry out some Waste Operative duties, such as sorting waste, making sure that all waste is disposed of in the correct bins / dedicated areas. You could also be assisting with manual labouring duties such as assisting with emptying customer cars of waste and recycling.
