GI Group is supporting McLaren Automotive in recruiting 20 Vehicle Technicians. In this role you will work with the launch team to ensure the smooth launch of new Ultimate series models, their derivatives, and subsequent model‑year changes. Your responsibilities include carrying out the production build of Ultimate series vehicles to achieve required build volume targets while meeting quality, cost, and volume targets.

Pay Rates

  • Standard – £18.51 per hour before 40 hours
  • Overtime – £27.76 per hour after 40 hours and Saturdays
  • Sunday and Bank holiday – £37.02 per hour

Working Monday to Friday with possible overtime available at weekends. Working hours – 07:30 to 16:30.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Understand and follow detailed work instructions for construction, painting or assembly of vehicles.
  • Ensure all station operations on each vehicle are completed to the required quality standard.
  • Ensure all operations are completed within the required timescale.
  • Work as part of a team to define and solve problems that may affect the quality, cost or productivity of the vehicles being produced.
  • Attend the workplace on a regular and timely basis, informing the team leader of any lateness or unplanned absence in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and orderly work area in line with brand expectations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and other team members, participating in safety activities as requested.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities as requested.
  • Provide first‑hand support in the development and launch into production of future McLaren Automotive vehicle platforms and variants.
  • Provide first‑hand support with the development of vehicle assembly processes for all assembly disciplines.
  • Provide first‑hand support with the specification of bespoke assembly tool and fixture equipment.
  • Provide first‑hand support with the specification of generic hand‑tool requirements for both prototype and production build phases.
  • Provide first‑hand support with the generation of vehicle build concerns, documentation of relevant root‑cause analysis.
  • Provide first‑hand support with the assembly of prototype vehicles during the relevant prototype and development build phase.
  • Provide first‑hand support for vehicle / variant launch into production.
  • Provide first‑hand support with the training of new build technicians to enable a smooth transition into series manufacture.
  • Clearly understand and adhere to McLaren brand values.
  • Provide series production support during periods of absence or peak holiday when required by the business.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum Level 2/3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and/or Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair.
  • Vehicle production experience.
  • Build concern reporting experience.
  • Knowledge of quality measurement systems, which could include Faro arm usage.
  • Ability to work to demanding time schedules.
  • Experience with process and product maturation.
  • Experience working in small teams.

  • Excellent motivational attributes.
  • Prepared to coach and develop peer skill sets.
  • Understanding of niche vehicle brand requirements and a minimum of 12 months experience working on ultra‑high performance and/or prestige vehicles.
  • Ability to act under pressure with calmness and clarity of thought.
