Overview
We're recruiting experienced machine operators for a print assistant role on a Panama shift in the Telford area. The successful candidates will have machine operating experience and preferably knowledge of flexographic print or experience in an FMCG/manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on production role focused on quality, uptime and safe operation.
Key responsibilities
- Set up, operate and monitor machine lines to meet production targets.
- Support Printer 1 with machine operating duties.
- Conduct routine quality checks (film gauge, appearance, seal integrity) and log production data.
- Change reels/dies, perform planned cleaning and basic preventative maintenance.
- Troubleshoot common issues (die lines, uneven gauge, film draw issues) and escalate complex faults to maintenance.
- Comply with health & safety procedures and site quality standards.
- Support shift handovers and keep accurate production records.
Essential requirements
- Proven machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and experience following process parameters.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Flexibility to work the Panama shift pattern (rotating day/night shifts).
- Physically fit as the role is physically demanding and requires elements of heavy lifting.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Direct experience with flexographic processes.
- Previous FMCG or flexible packaging experience.
- Basic maintenance skills or experience working with extrusion equipment.
