We are seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to provide temporary cover at a busy operational site in Stafford. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a strong safety culture, ensuring legal compliance, and driving continuous improvement across EHS standards. You will act as the site's EHS lead, working closely with senior leadership, operations, contractors, and employee representatives to minimise risk, prevent incidents, and promote safe ways of working at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with UK EHS legislation, internal standards, and life saving rules
- Develop, review, and verify EHS plans, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
- Monitor legislative changes and assess impacts on site operations
- Identify, submit, and manage required EHS permits
- Operational Safety
- Develop and test site emergency response plans and incident management processes
- Lead accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and preventative actions
- Support operational safety initiatives including Gemba walks and inspections
- Oversee contractor safety and compliance on site
- Management Systems & Reporting
- Lead implementation and maintenance of the EHS Management System
- Coordinate ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other relevant audits and certifications
- Manage EHS data, KPIs, reporting, and performance updates to senior management
- Share lessons learned and best practices across sites
About You
- Essential
- Degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years' EHS experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or multinational environment
- Strong knowledge of EHS management systems and operational safety
- Confident communicator able to influence at all levels of the organisation
- Desirable
- ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 certification
- Experience working across multicultural or multi site environments
- Proven ability to lead, engage, and drive behavioural safety improvements
