General Assembler (Metal Components)

A General Assembler (Metal Components) is responsible for assembling precision metal parts using processes such as fitting, bonding (gluing), and polishing to produce high-quality finished or semi-finished products. The role requires attention to detail, manual skill, and adherence to strict quality standards.

Location: Ruislip, London

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm

Salary: Β£13.50 per hour

Key Responsibilities of the General Assembler:

Assemble metal components according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications
Accurately fit and align parts to ensure correct positioning and secure assembly
Apply industrial adhesives (gluing/bonding) safely and precisely where required
Clamp, hold, and secure components during curing or setting processes
Polish, deburr, and finish metal surfaces to meet quality and cosmetic standards
Inspect parts throughout the assembly process to ensure accuracy and defect-free output
Use hand tools, measuring equipment, and finishing tools safely and correctly
Identify and report any faulty materials, defects, or assembly issues
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workstation
Follow health & safety procedures, including PPE requirements

Skills and Requirements for the General Assembler:

Ability to read basic technical drawings or assembly instructions
Experience with hand tools and measuring equipment (e.g., calipers, gauges)
Good manual dexterity and attention to fine detail
Understanding of bonding/adhesive application techniques (or willingness to learn)
Ability to perform finishing tasks such as polishing or deburring
Strong quality awareness and ability to spot defects
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Education and Experience for the desired General Assembler:

High xgikmsk school education or equivalent preferred
Previous experience in metal assembly, manufacturing, or fabrication is advantageous
On-the-job training provided for specific processes and materials

Work Environment for the General Assembler:

Workshop or manufacturing production environment
Work may involve standing for long periods and handling metal parts
Exposure to adhesives, polishing compounds, and light machinery
PPE such as gloves, eye protection, and masks required depending on tasks
