Gi Group are seeking Multi Skilled Operatives to work for our client based in Hull, within a busy 24/7 manufacturing environment. Our client operates a continuous process plant, producing specialist products through fusion, crushing, grinding, drying, blending and bagging activities. If you’re looking for a hands‑on role with real variety and long‑term opportunities, this Multi Skilled Operative position could be perfect for you!
Working hours: Rotating 12‑hour shifts on a 3‑week cycle, averaging 40 hours per week:
- Week 1: 2 x 12‑hour days, 2 x 12‑hour nights (commencing Monday)
- Week 2: 3 x 12‑hour days (commencing Wednesday)
- Week 3: 3 x 12‑hour nights (commencing Sunday PM)
Shifts run from Sunday nights through to Friday days.
Location: Hull – you must be able to reliably commute for 12‑hour day and night shifts.
Rate of pay: ÂŁ30,172.09 per annum
Contract type: Permanent
Purpose of the role: The purpose of this role is to support the safe and efficient running of a 24‑hour process plant. As a Multi Skilled Operative, you will be responsible for operating production plant and equipment, handling raw materials and finished products, and maintaining accurate production and quality records while working to strict health and safety standards.
Duties include:
- Operating production plant and equipment, including fusion, casting, crushing, grinding, drying, blending and bagging machinery.
- Using counterbalance FLT and other mechanical handling equipment (training can be provided), including pallet trucks and other site MHE.
- Palletising filled tubs, sacks and boxes and transporting raw materials and finished product around site.
- Recording production figures, downtime and other data for Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) monitoring.
- Maintaining accurate records of production input and output data.
- Taking product samples and submitting them to the QC laboratory for routine testing.
- Completing line set‑up and following work instructions for preparing batches.
- Conducting first‑line checks and following instructions for batch corrections.
- Working in full compliance with company procedures related to plant, equipment, process, chemical and occupational safety.
- Correctly using all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safety equipment and workwear.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation (5S).
- Reporting any safety incidents, accidents, environmental breaches, hazardous conditions or near misses to the Shift Supervisor.
Please note: The above list of duties is not exhaustive, and you may be required to undertake any other tasks as instructed by Management.
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience operating production equipment and carrying out manual handling tasks.
- Strong safety awareness and a proven ability to follow safe working procedures.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and under their own initiative.

- Reliable, punctual and comfortable working 12‑hour day and night shifts.
- Confident, enthusiastic, approachable and motivated.
- Energetic and flexible team member, with a positive “can do” attitude.
- A strong sense of responsibility and ownership for quality and safety.

Desirable:
- A valid Counterbalance FLT licence.
- A good standard of general education (ideally GCSE English and Maths).
- NVQ in Performing Manufacturing Operations (or similar) is an advantage.
