Overview
We are hiring METER READERS in – South West England; no experience is required. Are you looking for Full Time work, close to home? Do you like working in an active outdoor role? Responsibilities
- As a Meter Reader you will be responsible for collecting data from gas, electricity & water meters for both commercial and residential properties.
- You will update meter reads accurately throughout the day on your handheld device, and enter the details on a handheld device at each location.
- Carry out retrieval of data from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites for Water, Gas and Electric Meters; full training will be given.
- Carry out visual inspections of associated metering equipment.
- Charge Point surveys and other duties as required.
- Drive and maintain motivation to work in an independent role. Maintain a friendly, professional approach to work and adhere to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.
What you will need
- Full UK Driving Licence – Minimum 1 year, maximum 6 points, NO DR Offences.
- Physically fit and able to bend in tight spaces, lift or kneel, climb stairs, crouch, and walk on average 6-7 miles a day.
- Willing to work in all weather conditions.
- Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions).
- Credit check (No county court judgements, IVA, or debt relief orders recorded for the last 6 years).
- 5 years employment history.
- Previous customer service experience (preferred but not essential).
Training
Training is 1 week and will be both classroom-based and field-based with an experienced meter reader so you can understand the job from a professional perspective.
What we offer
- £12.61 – £13.43 per hour basic pay (weekly payment).
- Weekly hours 40 – 45 with flexible start and finish times Monday – Friday (occasionally Saturday) between 8am – 8pm.
- £27,000 to £31,000 average annual earnings.
- Bonus scheme with earnings up to £1000 monthly.
- Overtime rates (£16 – £18) at manager\’s discretion.
- Business expenses reimbursed.
