A leading UK defence/aerospace organisation is seeking an enthusiastic Quality Engineer contractor to support a range of projects within a Customer Support & Service Solutions environment, covering fast jet and other in‑service platforms. You'll work at Integrated Project Team (IPT) level, collaborating closely with Operations to deliver effective Quality Assurance across returns and repair activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Principal Quality Engineer and Quality Manager to meet/exceed quality objectives
  • Act as the Quality focal point for in‑service and returns material activities
  • Investigate and resolve non‑conformances (root cause analysis and corrective actions)
  • Review/approve quality documentation for returns, concessions and repairs
  • Ensure traceability and configuration control of returned/unserviceable items
  • Interface with Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations and external suppliers
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 / ISO9001, internal QMS and customer requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement across in‑service quality processes
  • Provide reports and supporting data to programme, project and functional teams

Skills & Experience

  • Further education and/or strong experience in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing (or similar) within Defence Electronics or a comparably complex industry
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 / ISO9001 and Continuous Improvement principles
  • Experience with quality tools (e.g., RCCA, verification, pattern fault lifecycle)
  • Logical, data-driven problem solver with strong attention to detail
  • Confident stakeholder management and collaborative working style

Security / Vetting

  • Subject to BPSS pre‑employment screening
  • Additional National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply (eligibility for SC or DV may be required depending on programme)
