Overview
Logistics Planner. Job Location: Andover, Hampshire. Salary to: £34,000 annual salary. Hours: 09.30 – 19.30 hrs. Monday to Friday with 1 hour lunch. Pension: Standard Nest pension minimum. Holiday Allowance: 33 Days – on an accrual basis for 25 Days per year plus 8 bank holidays.
Position Details / Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support the \”Logistics Coordinator\” with their role in carrying out the daily planning and routing for the Company\’s own fleet of delivery vehicles and keep the sales team and driver team informed throughout the day. This is a very key role for Transport as it provides the vital link between the deliveries, sales team, drivers and customers. In short, the mission for each day is to get every delivery to site on time and in full, whatever takes to fulfil in the most efficient way. The company has supplied the servicing the fit out and construction industry for many years and has grown to stock over 5800 key lines, in stock and ready for dispatch to sites nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicating with drivers as they go about their day.
- Communicating with sales on all aspects of deliveries and delivery information.
- Organising any external and extra transport, including booking pallet network deliveries (keeping records of these too).
- Organising drivers to cover the day’s deliveries (including booking agency/ temp drivers).
- Day to day preparation for the routing in the evening (including but not limited to checking weights, dates and noting special requirements).
- Organising collections from suppliers and customer’s sites.
- Managing feedback from drivers to sales and vice versa.
- Carrying out the daily routing schedule at the end of each day – accumulating all orders and planning them suitably for loading then delivering the next day.
- Managing delivery issues via \”green forms\” – communicating, producing and advising from them.
- Ensuring completed arrival of drivers with collections being booked in.
- Booking in and advising on any special requirements.
- Completing drivers information after routing – start time, vehicle and paperwork.
- Raising purchase orders for 3rd party transport suppliers.
- Supporting warehouse supervisor when required.
