The Maintenance Technician - Plumber plays a key role in maintaining high standards across Carnegie Village, Leeds. Working as part of a dedicated on-site team, the postholder delivers planned, reactive, and summer turnaround maintenance to ensure student accommodation remains safe, functional, and ready for each academic intake.
Key Responsibilities
- Reactive maintenance - Provide first-line response to maintenance issues in line with service expectations.
- Planned maintenance - Complete scheduled maintenance tasks across the site.
- Support summer turnaround activities to prepare rooms and communal areas for new students.
- Carry out plumbing repairs in bathrooms and kitchens, alongside general fabric repairs including fixtures, fittings, furniture, and decoration.
- Maintain site presentation standards, including daily litter picking when required.
- Safely move refuse, white goods, mattresses, and furniture.
Health & Safety
- Health & safety reporting - Identify and report hazards or concerns to the appropriate manager.
- Work in line with safe systems of work and building services procedures.
Other Duties
- Participate in training and development as required.
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role.
Person Specification
Experience
- Essential: Experience completing domestic or commercial plumbing repairs within a maintenance environment.
- Desirable: Experience working in education, student accommodation, or similar residential settings.

- Understanding of building services, operational procedures, and safe working practices.
- Strong awareness of health and safety and ability to work safely.

Qualifications
- Essential: Plumbing NVQ Level 2 or BTEC / City & Guilds (6189, 6035, 6129 or equivalent).
- Desirable: GCSE/O-Level Maths and English; general maintenance NVQ qualifications.
