Join Gi Group supporting one of the UK's biggest supermarkets, as a Class 1 Weekend Driver. This isn’t just seasonal help; we are looking for professional drivers for a long-term partnership based in Bedford. You will play a vital role in keeping the nation fed by delivering to stores and petrol stations across the region.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Chilled & frozen loads, mostly stored in cages but some cases may be pallets
- 1-3 store deliveries, this can be to supermarkets or petrol station stores
- Drivers must be flexible to operate Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles (always paid at Class 1 rate)
- Conducting thorough vehicle checks and maintaining accurate digital tachograph records
- Drivers must drive as per clients' professional standards which you will be coached and trained on
- Ability to manage your Working Time Directive, and Driving Hours rules and Regulations in order to meet compliance expectations, and avoid infringement
- Acting as a professional face of the brand when arriving at stores
Shifts:
- Saturday & Sunday Available start time windows: 13:00 - 17:00, 18:00 - 22:00, 23:00 - 03:00
- Minimum 1 weekend day availability is a must
Benefits & Pay Rates:
- Double pay on Bank Holidays (up to £49.61ph)
- Increased holiday entitlement once first 12 weeks is completed
- Overtime after 45 hours, paid on weekly basis
- Paid Breaks from Day 1
- Monthly Performance Bonus
- Onsite Parking & Onsite subsidised Canteen
Pay Rates:
- Days 06:00-14:00: STD £20.57ph & Overtime £28.50ph
- Backs 14:00-22:00: STD £24.81ph & Overtime £31.18ph
- Nights 22:00-06:00: STD £24.81ph & Overtime £32.73ph
Class 1 Driver Requirements:
- Valid UK Driver Cards (Driving Licence, CPC and DIGI Cards)
- Minimum 6 months Class 1 licence + 6 months Class 1 driving experience
- Previous experience in store deliveries would be preferred, but is not essential
- Max 6 penalty points accepted for minor offences (no DR, DD, IN10 offences)
- Availability to work weekends is essential for this 24/7 operation
- Will have the ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as an attention to detail
