Responsibilities
- Collecting data from gas, electricity & water meters for both commercial and residential properties.
- Updating meter reads accurately throughout the day on handheld devices and providing excellent customer service at each location.
- Retrieving data from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites for Water, Gas and Electric Meters; full training will be given.
- Carry out visual inspections of associated metering equipment.
- Conduct charge point surveys.
- Drive and work independently in an outdoor setting.
- Demonstrate a friendly personality and professional approach to work.
- Adhere to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.
Requirements
- Manual UK driving licence – minimum 1 year, maximum 6 points, no DR offences (driving licence is not required in some areas in London).
- Physically fit: no issues bending in tight spaces, lifting or kneeling, climbing stairs, crouching, and walking on average 4–5 miles a day.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
- Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions).
- Credit report check (no county court judgements, IVA, debt relief orders recorded for the last 6 years).
- Five years employment history.
- Previous customer service experience (preferred but not essential).
Training
Training is 1 week, both classroom‑based and field‑based with an experienced meter reader.
What we offer
- £13.23 – 13.97 per hour basic pay (weekly payment).
- Weekly hours of 40–45 per week with flexible start and finish times Monday – Friday (occasionally Saturday) between 8am and 8pm.
- £29,000 to £35,000 average annual earnings including bonuses.
- Bonus scheme with earnings up to £2,000 monthly.
- Overtime rates (£16 – £25) at manager's discretion.
- Business expenses reimbursed.
