Gi Group are seeking Class 2 drivers / HGV 2 drivers for the East Riding of Yorkshire Council\'s Winter Services Gritting Season.
This is a part-time, 6-month contract role with vacancies at Market Weighton & Beverley depots.
Applicants should be able to reach these locations within approximately 30 minutes and are advised not to apply if their commute exceeds this time.
We offer an attractive remuneration package, including a 2-day fully paid training course for all new recruits.
This role involves:
- Driving gritting vehicles (LGV Cat C / HGV Class 2) to spread salt & brine on regional roads.
- Winter duties such as loading salt with a loading shovel, driving, and cleaning vehicles.
- Participating in a standby rota (paid), alternating 2 weeks \"on\" and 1 week \"off\" (rest week).
Standby shift timings:
- Weekday: Shift 1 - 16:00 to 00:00; Shift 2 - 00:00 to 08:00; Rest week.
- Weekend: Shift 1 - 12:00 to 00:00; Shift 2 - 00:00 to 12:00; Rest week.
Weekly standby payments are £153, with standby from home (not at a depot).
If called out to grit roads, additional payments apply: £100.05 for a 5-hour call out or £120.06 for a 6-hour call out, plus overtime at £20.01/hour. Most call outs are planned, with daily updates on likelihood.
Drivers need:
- LGV Cat C (HGV Class 2) license
- Digital Tachograph Card
- Full driver CPC
- No more than 6 points on license
- No DD/DR endorsements
- New drivers are welcome.
All new employees receive at least 2 days of training, with additional training available if needed.
