Role summary

As an Apprentice People Coordinator you will support the People Team with administrative and operational tasks that ensure efficient day-to-day HR services. You will gain practical experience in onboarding, employee records, HR systems, recruitment support and basic employee relations, working alongside experienced colleagues and completing an accredited apprenticeship standard.

Key responsibilities

  • Onboarding & offboarding – Assist with new starter paperwork, induction arrangements and exit administration to ensure smooth transitions.
  • HR administration – Maintain accurate employee records, update HR systems and process paperwork in line with policies and GDPR requirements.
  • Employee enquiries – Respond to routine colleague queries, escalate complex matters to senior team members and provide clear, friendly guidance.
  • Reporting & data – Assist with basic HR reporting, ensuring data is accurate and presented clearly for stakeholders.
  • Process improvement – Contribute ideas to streamline administrative processes and improve colleague experience.
  • Team collaboration – Work closely with People Team colleagues and operational teams to deliver a positive employee experience.

Essential skills & attributes

  • Strong administrative skills with good attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication, comfortable liaising with colleagues at all levels.
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office and willingness to learn HR systems.
  • Commitment to learning; able to follow a structured apprenticeship programme and achieve qualification outcomes.
  • Confidentiality and a professional approach to handling personal data.
