We are recruiting a Trainee Recruitment Consultant to join our specialist Finance and Accountancy recruitment team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in recruitment, supporting the delivery of permanent and interim appointments across commerce, corporate and industry finance functions. You will develop your recruitment expertise while building relationships with high calibre candidates and clients.

The Role

  • Receive structured training and ongoing support while learning the full recruitment lifecycle.
  • Work closely with experienced consultants and senior recruiters to source candidates, manage relationships and contribute to business development across the Birmingham finance and accountancy market.
  • Develop an understanding of the finance and accountancy recruitment market, including roles such as management accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, financial control and finance business partnering.
  • Identify and engage candidates using CV database searches, LinkedIn, job boards, referrals, networking and other sourcing methods.
  • Conduct candidate screening conversations to understand experience, motivation, salary expectations and career objectives.
  • Build and maintain a high quality candidate pipeline for current and future vacancies, keeping accurate records within our ATS - Bullhorn.
  • Work with consultants to prepare candidate profiles, CV summaries and shortlists that meet client requirements.
  • Develop strong relationships with candidates, providing regular communication and a professional, consultative service throughout the recruitment process.
  • Support client development by researching target companies, identifying hiring needs and contributing to market mapping and business development activity.
  • Coordinate interviews, gather feedback and support candidates and clients through to offer and placement.
  • Work towards agreed activity, performance and revenue targets while contributing to a collaborative, high performing team culture.
  • Take part in structured training covering recruitment processes, candidate sourcing, sales, business development, market knowledge and client management.

About You

  • Previous recruitment experience is not essential; we are interested in individuals with strong communication skills, commercial awareness and the motivation to learn and develop within a target driven environment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with candidates and clients.
  • Motivation to develop a career in recruitment, sales, talent acquisition or a related professional services environment.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in finance, accountancy, business and the Birmingham employment market.
  • Strong organisation skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Resilience, self motivation and a proactive approach to achieving goals and responding to feedback.
  • Comfortable working to activity and performance targets in a fast paced environment.
  • Confident using digital systems and willing to learn ATS/CRM platforms, LinkedIn and other recruitment technology.
  • A collaborative team player who is committed to delivering a high quality candidate and client experience.
