Gi Group are recruiting on behalf of a global life sciences company that provides products and services used in scientific research, healthcare, and industrial laboratories. We are currently seeking a Material Handler to support warehouse and inventory activities at their Birmingham B15 site on a 3-month temporary assignment.
This is a hands-on, warehouse/logistics-based position. The role may require standing and walking for extended periods, working within warehouse/storage areas, and handling materials in line with manual-handling requirements. You must wear appropriate PPE where required and comply with all site health, safety and environmental standards.
Material Handler Pay & Hours:
- £13.53 per hour
- Monday to Friday
- 07:30-16:00 (40 hours per week)
- Duration: 3 months
Material Handler Key Duties:
- Completing daily cycle-count lists
- Physically locating and counting inventory
- Verifying part numbers and storage locations
- Recording physical count quantities accurately
- Performing second counts/recounts where differences are identified
- Flagging discrepancies for investigation
- Checking stock-location accuracy
- Identifying misplaced or incorrectly labelled inventory
- Supporting inventory clean-up and location-control activities
- Assisting with physical inventory and audit preparation
- Supporting the Inventory team with routine inventory-control tasks
Material Handler Performance Measures:
- Cycle-count completion against the assigned schedule
- Accuracy of physical counts
- Accuracy and completeness of count records
- Compliance with inventory and cycle-count procedures
- Timely escalation of discrepancies
- Attendance and reliability
- Safe working practices
- Quality of inventory and location checks
Material Handler Requirements:
- Previous inventory counting experience (essential)
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment and being on your feet most of the day
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
