As a Meter Reader, you will be responsible for collecting data from gas, electricity, and water meters for both commercial and residential properties. You will update meter readings accurately throughout the day on your handheld device, enter details at each location, and provide excellent customer service.

What we offer:

  • £12.61 – £13.00 per hour (weekly pay)
  • 40-45 hours per week with flexible start and finish times, Monday to Friday, occasionally Saturday, between 8 am – 8 pm
  • Average annual earnings of £27,000 to £30,000
  • Bonus scheme with earnings up to £1,000 monthly
  • Overtime rates (£17 – £20) at manager’s discretion
  • Business expenses reimbursed

Requirements:

  • Full UK Driving Licence – minimum 1 year, max 3 points, no DR offences
  • Physically fit, able to bend in tight spaces, lift, kneel, climb stairs, crouch, and walk 6-7 miles daily
  • Willing to work in all weather conditions
  • Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions)
  • Clean credit report (no county court judgments, IVA, debt relief orders in last 6 years)
  • Customer service experience preferred but not essential

Responsibilities:

  • Retrieving data from domestic, commercial, and industrial meters for water, gas, and electricity; full training provided
  • Visual inspections of metering equipment
  • Charge point surveys
  • Ability to work independently with motivation
  • Friendly and professional demeanor
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines

Training:

  • One-week training combining classroom and field experience with an experienced meter reader
