We are hiring Meter Readers in your postcode now; no experience is required. Are you looking for full-time work, close to home? Do you enjoy working outdoors in an active role? Would you like to have control over your schedule and work flexibly? If yes, then this could be the role for you.

As a Meter Reader, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collecting data from gas, electricity, and water meters for both commercial and residential properties.
  • Updating meter readings accurately throughout the day on your handheld device.
  • Entering details at each location.
  • Providing excellent customer service.

What we offer:

  • £12.61 - £13.00 per hour basic pay (weekly payment).
  • Weekly hours of 40 - 45, with flexible start and finish times, Monday to Friday (occasionally Saturday) between 8am - 8pm.
  • Average annual earnings of £27,000 to £30,000.
  • Bonus scheme with earnings up to £1,000 monthly.
  • Overtime rates (£17 - £20) at manager’s discretion.
  • Business expenses reimbursed.
  • Company pension enrollment.
  • No previous experience required.
  • Opportunities for progression and promotion for higher earnings.
  • Up to 28 days holiday per year (on an accrual basis).
  • Full uniform and PPE provided.
  • Company car.
  • Full training provided.

Requirements:

  • Full UK Driving Licence - minimum 1 year, maximum 3 points, no DR offences.
  • Physically fit, capable of bending in tight spaces, lifting, kneeling, climbing stairs, crouching, and walking 6-7 miles daily.
  • Willing to work in all weather conditions.
  • Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions).
  • Clean credit report (no recent county court judgments, IVA, or debt relief orders in last 6 years).
  • Previous customer service experience preferred but not essential.

Duties:

  • Retrieving data from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites for water, gas, and electric meters, with full training provided.
  • Conducting visual inspections of metering equipment.
  • Carrying out charge point surveys.
  • Working independently with drive and motivation.
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional approach.
  • Adhering to health and safety guidelines at all times.

Training:

  • One-week training, combining classroom and field-based learning with an experienced meter reader.
