We are hiring Water Meter Readers in Slough; no experience is required. Are you looking for full-time work, close to home? Do you like working in an active outdoor role? Do you want to take control of your schedule and work flexibly? If the answer is yes, then this could be the role for you.

Responsibilities

  • As a Meter Reader, you will be responsible for collecting data from water meters for both commercial and residential properties.
  • You will update meter reads accurately throughout the day on a handheld device, and enter the details at each location.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Retrieving data from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites for Water, Gas and Electric Meters; full training will be given.
  • Carry out visual inspections of associated metering equipment.
  • Charge Point Surveys.
  • Drive and motivation to work in an independent role.
  • Adhering to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.

What we offer

  • £13.85 - £14.00 per hour basic pay (weekly payment)
  • Weekly hours 40 - 45 with flexible start and finish times Monday - Friday (occasionally Saturday) between 8am - 8pm
  • £29,000 to £31,000 average annual earnings
  • Bonus scheme with earnings up to £1000 monthly
  • Overtime rates (£16 - £18) at manager's discretion
  • Business expenses reimbursed

What you will need

  • Full UK Driving Licence - Minimum 1 year, maximum 6 points, NO DR Offences (driving license is not required in some areas in London)
  • Physically fit and able to bend in tight spaces, lift or kneel, climb stairs, crouch, and walk on average 6-7 miles a day
  • Happy to work in all weather conditions
  • Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions)
  • Credit Report check (No county court judgements, IVA, debt relief orders recorded for the last 6 years)
  • 5 years employment history
  • Previous Customer Service experience (preferred, not essential)

Training

Training is 1 week and will be both classroom-based and field-based with an experienced meter reader, so you get to see the job through a professional's eyes.
