Key Responsibilities
- Collect domestic and commercial waste/recycling from designated locations (bins, bags, boxes, etc.).
- Operate the bin lift and vehicle equipment safely; report any faults to the driver.
- Assist the driver with daily vehicle checks and report defects during the round.
- Ensure collections are completed neatly; clean any spillages immediately.
- Collect bulky waste items as directed.
- Deliver and replace wheeled bins; leave them safely with correct information for residents.
- Deliver new waste sacks as required.
- Assist with vehicle manoeuvring during collections and at disposal points.
- Follow instructions from the Refuse Recycling Driver at all times.
- Respond to public queries; provide basic information or direct appropriately.
- Follow waste policies, including bin rejection procedures and required notifications.
- Attach service-related leaflets or notices to bins when required.
- Support team members, including new and agency staff.
- Report near misses, accidents, and incidents promptly.
- Assist with record‑keeping and provide information for in‑cab systems.
- Work in line with risk assessments and safe working practices.
- Carry out any other duties appropriate to the role.
