Key Responsibilities

  • Collect domestic and commercial waste/recycling from designated locations (bins, bags, boxes, etc.).
  • Operate the bin lift and vehicle equipment safely; report any faults to the driver.
  • Assist the driver with daily vehicle checks and report defects during the round.
  • Ensure collections are completed neatly; clean any spillages immediately.
  • Collect bulky waste items as directed.
  • Deliver and replace wheeled bins; leave them safely with correct information for residents.
  • Deliver new waste sacks as required.
  • Assist with vehicle manoeuvring during collections and at disposal points.
  • Follow instructions from the Refuse Recycling Driver at all times.
  • Respond to public queries; provide basic information or direct appropriately.
  • Follow waste policies, including bin rejection procedures and required notifications.
  • Attach service-related leaflets or notices to bins when required.
  • Support team members, including new and agency staff.
  • Report near misses, accidents, and incidents promptly.
  • Assist with record‑keeping and provide information for in‑cab systems.
  • Work in line with risk assessments and safe working practices.
  • Carry out any other duties appropriate to the role.
