I'm recruiting on behalf of a leading student accommodation provider for a Maintenance Assistant to join their team end of June 2026 in Lancaster on a 3‑month temporary assignment. This is a hands‑on role, ideal for someone with solid basic maintenance/DIY skills who enjoys working in a small, friendly team and providing a safe, clean environment for residents.
The Role
- Carry out basic reactive repairs and general upkeep in line with Service Level Agreements.
- Keep the site clean and tidy, including daily litter picking.
- Move refuse, white goods, mattresses and furniture safely.
- Support statutory checks: fire alarms/extinguishers, detectors, emergency lighting, water temperatures and shower heads.
- Report any Health & Safety issues to the relevant manager.
- Help with summer works (e.g. painting, tiling, installing/removing mattresses and white goods).
- Work flexibly during busy student arrival/departure weekends.
About You
- Practical DIY/maintenance skills (e.g. painting, tiling).
- Understanding of safe working practices and Health & Safety.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Proactive, organised, able to work with minimal supervision.
- Team player who can work to targets and maintain high standards under pressure.
