Responsibilities
- As a Meter Reader you will be responsible for collecting data from gas and electricity meters at both commercial and residential properties.
- You will update meter reads accurately throughout the day on a handheld device and provide excellent customer service.
- Retrieving data from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites for gas and electric meters.
- Carrying out visual inspections of associated metering equipment.
- Conducting charge-point surveys.
- Working independently with drive and motivation.
- Maintaining a friendly and professional approach to work.
- Adhering to health and safety guidelines at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements
- UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
- Physically fit and able to bend, lift, kneel, climb stairs, and walk 3–5 miles a day.
- Happy to work in all weather conditions.
- Clear DBS check.
- Previous customer service experience (preferred).
- Access to your own vehicle.
- Basic business insurance.
Benefits and Compensation
- £13.45–14.80 per hour basic pay, weekly payment.
- 37.5 hours a week with flexible start and finish times (Mon‑Fri 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.).
- £27,000 to £31,000 average annual earnings.
- Progression and promotion opportunities for higher earnings (technical reader, auditor, engineer, field assistant manager, field manager).
- Weekly bonus scheme up to £250.
- Overtime rates at manager’s discretion.
- Business expenses reimbursed at 30.05 pence per mile.
