Are you an experienced Hygiene Operator looking for your next challenge in food manufacturing? Gi Group is recruiting a Hygiene Operator to join our client's busy food production site in Scunthorpe (DN15). This is an excellent opportunity for a Hygiene Operator who wants to make a direct impact on operations and product safety within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Rate of Pay for Hygiene Operator: £13.33 per hour

Hygiene Operator Working Hours: 3pm - 11pm, Monday to Friday (early finish on Friday)

Key Responsibilities of a Hygiene Operator:

  • Deliver deep cleaning and sanitisation of production areas, equipment and packaging lines to HACCP standards.
  • Follow SOPs and CIP procedures; prepare and dilute cleaning chemicals in line with COSHH guidance.
  • Operate powered cleaning equipment (pressure washers, floor scrubbers) and manual cleaning tools safely.
  • Complete cleaning logs, verification checks (ATP/swab or visual) and elevate deviations to supervisors.
  • Strip down and rebuild machinery for changeovers and assist with safe restart checks to minimise downtime.
  • Set up exclusion zones and ensure correct PPE is used during cleaning activities.
  • Dispose of cleaning waste, maintain drains and gullies, and support pest‑control measures.
  • Report and tag out defective guards, hoses or equipment and raise maintenance requests as needed.

Requirements for the Hygiene Operator Role:

  • Previous experience in hygiene/cleaning roles within food production or manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, COSHH and basic CIP processes.
  • Comfortable operating pressure washers and floor scrubbers and following SOPs.
  • Able to travel to Scunthorpe (DN15) - own transport preferred.
  • Physically fit and able to work on your feet for full shifts; reliable attendance for afternoon/evening shifts is essential.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team under shift patterns.
