Class 1 Shunter Driver
- Our client in Ryton-on-Dunsmore requires some ongoing shunting work
- Candidates will complete an assessment followed by 2/3 site specific shunting training
- Upon successful completion of the assessment, candidates will move into ongoing work with our client
Class 1 Shunter Driver - Rates of Pay: Standard Rate (Weeks 1-12):
Day 1
After 12 weeks
Class 1 Shunter Driver - Shifts and Hours:
- Shifts available 7 days a week (Part time & full time available)
- Afternoon start windows: 12:00 - 16:00
- Morning start TBC
- Shifts run on average around 10 hours per day
Class 1 Shunter Driver - The Role:
- Load, unload, and secure freight safely
- Using a Terberg (Tug) shunting vehicle in the yard
- Moving trailers across the yard efficiently
- Perform daily vehicle checks and report any defects immediately
- Work efficiently to meet timed shunts for deliveries
- Trailers may include alcohol products
Class 1 Shunter Driver - Requirements & Key Criteria:
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence, Driver CPC, and Digital Tachograph card
- Minimum age of 21 for insurance purposes
- 6 months shunting experience/ 2 years driving preferred
- Maximum of 6 penalty points (SP endorsements only; no other endorsement types accepted)
- Must provide a full 2-year work or education history
- Calm under pressure, flexible, with strong customer service, communication, and attention to detail
