An excellent opportunity for an AAT qualified or part-qualified Assistant Accountant to join a large engineering/manufacturing environment in Yeovil. Ideal for local candidates who can start at short notice.
You'll support the Industrial Performance & Operations team with operating cost accounting, month-end, budgeting and reporting, as activities are brought back in-house from an external provider.
Key responsibilities:
- Support month-end: cost analysis, accruals, journals and reconciliations.
- Ensure correct cost allocation to cost elements and cost centres.
- Assist with operating cost budgets and forecasts; highlight risks and opportunities.
- Respond to finance queries from the business and explain variances.
- Help document and improve processes and support insourcing activities.
- Assist with external audit preparation and evidence gathering.
About you:
- AAT qualified or Part-Qualified (or equivalent).
- Experience in an assistant accountant/finance role (month-end, accruals, reporting).
- Strong Excel skills; good PowerPoint skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Analytical, accurate, proactive and well-organised.
- Clear communicator and team player, comfortable with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
