We are seeking a qualified and ambitious Senior Ecologist to deliver top-tier ecological services to our clients across various sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with clients, attend site meetings, and produce quotations.
- Design and specify surveys and projects.
- Supervise and undertake field survey work.
- Write and supervise reports for ecological consultancy work.
- Complete Biodiversity Net Gain assessments and strategies.
- Collaborate on joint projects and support operational teams.
- Manage a team of Ecologists and Assistants.
- Appoint and manage seasonal Field Ecologists.
Core Skills and Requirements:
- Degree in ecology or related subject.
- Minimum 5 years of professional ecological experience.
- Knowledge of UK and European legislation on protected species and habitats.
- Experience in ecological appraisals, impact assessments, HRAs, and SSSI consents.
- Strong field surveyor skills and protected species survey licences.
- Proven experience in line managing staff.
- Full membership of CIEEM.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Chartered Ecologist or Environmentalist.
- Master's degree in a related subject.
- Additional survey licences.
- Experience as an expert witness at planning inquiries.
- Proficiency in specialist software.
- Tree Climbing & Aerial Tree Rescue qualification.
Working Hours:
Standard hours are 08:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday, with flexibility. Some anti-social hours required during survey season.
