Gherson Solicitors is currently seeking to recruit a Solicitor with around 8-10 years of post-qualification experience to join our expanding Dispute Resolution Team, which focuses on complex and high-value litigation and arbitration, often with an international element, including cases with a sanctions-related component.

We would like to hear from candidates who can demonstrate the following:

  • 8-10 years of post-qualification experience in a mid/top-market (London or regional) or City disputes resolution practice (or practices), focusing predominantly or solely on civil matters concerning high-value and/ or complex corporate, commercial and financial disputes in the Senior Courts/ UKSC or in international arbitral fora.
  • A strong grasp of the CPR and the Commercial Court Guide,
  • A proven track record of working on complex civil litigation and/or arbitration/international arbitration across their career to date.
  • An ability to handle their own caseload (with supervision), as well as assist on larger matters.

The ideal candidate would also have experience in one or more of the following:

  • Investor State Arbitration
  • International Arbitration
  • Civil fraud
  • Cross-border disputes and/ or the conflict of laws
  • Sanctions and white-collar crime/ investigations matters
  • Conducting litigation in the High Courts
  • Personal finance/ banking matters for high net worth and/ or ultra-high net worth individuals

The skills required for this role will include:

  • Ability to work to deadlines/targets, prioritise and manage a caseload and deliver effective solutions.
  • Ability to push your caseload forward with initiative and minimal supervision
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and on your own initiative with a positive attitude.
  • A commercial, solution-driven, and client-focused approach.
  • Strong legal and analytical skills with an eye for detail.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent IT skills and effective use of Case Management and Time Recording Systems.
  • Professional and effective communication with individual and business contacts, with opponents, experts and with the court.

The candidate must have an excellent (and demonstrable) drafting ability as well as a true commitment to achieving the very best outcome in some of the most difficult circumstances.
